FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Autism Safety Expo on October 30th Puts Home, Community and Financial Security in One Place

Families, first responders and financial professionals will share practical tools for keeping autistic people safe, including protecting their money.

Monroeville, PA β€” October 28, 2026 β€” Autism Connection of PA will host the Autism Safety Expo on Friday, October 30, 2026, at the Monroeville Volunteer Fire Department #4, from 9:00am to 5:00pm. The expo gives autistic people, their families and caregivers one place to learn how to stay safe at home, in the community and online, and how to protect their financial well-being.

Safety Means More Than Locks and Seat Belts

Safety for autistic people covers physical risks and financial ones, and the expo treats both as essential. Attendees can expect information and resources on:

  • Home and wandering safety: Preventing and responding to elopement, plus tracking tools and home modifications.
  • Emergency response: How first responders can recognize autism and communicate effectively, and how families can prepare for a crisis.
  • Community and school safety: Strategies for public spaces, transportation and school settings.
  • Online safety: Protecting autistic youth and adults from predatory behavior and harmful contact.
  • Financial security: Defending against scams, fraud and financial exploitation, and planning for long-term stability.

Financial security belongs in any conversation about safety. Autistic adults can be targeted by scams and by people who take advantage of trust, and a single loss can threaten housing, benefits and independence. The financial sessions will cover spotting common scams, safeguarding benefits, and planning tools such as ABLE accounts and special needs trusts, which can help people with disabilities save without losing eligibility for certain public benefits.

We listened when autistic people and their families told us what matters most to them: being safe and secure at home, in the community, and online. This expo is our way of bringing friendly faces, helpful resources, and real answers together under one roof.
